The Lakewatch Program is a volunteer-driven water quality testing program for lakes and reservoirs in Alberta. Lakewatch offers a high-quality and comprehensive lake assessment with as many local stewardship groups as possible each year. Our assessments include baseline information for target-setting, identification and ranking of water quality concerns, and options to address concerns. The information is summarized in a useful format for individuals, community groups and governments to use for water restoration and management activities.
Alberta Water Quality Awareness (AWQA) Day is an education program designed to increase Albertan's' awareness and understanding of water quality and watershed health, through hands-on water quality testing. AWQA Day participants are given free water quality test kits to get outside and explore the health of their local waterways. Using their test kits, participants gather basic information about the health of Alberta's surface waterbodies and then contribute what they find to our online database and interactive watershed map.
Each year our ALMS Workshop has a different theme and is located in a different Lakewatch lake community. The purpose of our Workshop is to inspire and educate attendees about lake and watershed management. It is an opportunity to share ideas, learn from others and inspire each other, building stronger communities that work together to improve the health of their watersheds.
We have recently completed phase one of our Website Improvement Project.We are looking for donations to move forward with phase two which will include many unique and interactive features to educate and assist those Albertans concerned about and interested in the well-being of their watersheds.
What is a Special Sponsor? A Special Sponsor is someone who understands that in order to keep organizations running smoothly there are important maintenance costs that need to be funded each year. We have been working hard to improve assesss the water quality of Alberta's lakes since 1991 and need to be able to continue our important work.

Every year, at least 60 community members work extensively with us throughout the summer to study their local lake. Our Lakewatch reports, which are posted online, have become the primary source of information on lakes in Alberta. You will get a great deal of exposure by sponsoring the Lakewatch program. ALMS Workshop - Sponsorship Opportunities 200

Help educate and provide a venue to encourage action on lake and watershed management! Around 100 people come together at our Workshops, which are held at a different lake or reservoirs around the province each year.
